Capacity Building

The Alliance builds the capacity of grassroots NGOs to advocate for evidence-based road safety interventions and to play their part in the achievement of the SDGs and global goals for road safety.

Through face-to-face and online training, toolkits, and mentoring, the Alliance aims to help each NGO to fulfill its potential. Different NGOs are at different stages and have different needs. Harnessing the strength of more established NGOs, the majority of the Alliance’s capacity building offerings utilize the skills and experience of members to benefit the whole Alliance community.

The Alliance Empowerment Program is the Alliance’s flagship capacity building program, sponsored by FedEx. It is based on a needs assessment conducted among Alliance member NGOs in 2015 and aims to improve the ability of NGOs working in road safety around the world to design and implement initiatives that significantly reduce the risk of injury and fatality on the world’s roads.
