Global Meeting Final Day

After a wonderful four days in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Fifth Global Meeting of Nongovernmental Organizations Advocating for Road Safety and Road Victims concluded today, 6 April 2017.

Three Alliance member NGOs were honored by receiving the FedEx Road Safety Award for results-oriented commitment, involvement and willingness to learn. Read more HERE.

The Malaysia Declaration was signed by the Minister of Transport for Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai and all NGO attendees at the Global Meeting. The Malaysia Declaration reinforces the commitment of NGOs to push toward the Sustainable Development Goal to reduce the number of road deaths by 50% by 2020 and calls on governments and other bilateral and multilateral players to partner in doing this. The final day also saw the Alliance’s Third General Assembly, a presentation on the Fourth UN Global Road Safety Week and sessions on the Five Pillars of the Decade of Action.
