“Make Sure This Isn’t The Last Face You Ever See”

17 July was World Emoji Day. In Belgium, Alliance member Responsible Young Drivers marked the occasion with a timely reminder not to text and drive.

Each year, national newspaper De Standaard, offers a full back page advertisement for creative campaigns from NGOs. This year, Responsible Young Drivers’ campaign was chosen. With the tagline “Make sure this isn’t the last face you ever see”, the campaign addresses the issue of mobile phone use while driving.

Distracted driving is the fastest rising cause of traffic crashes in Belgium. 11% of the drivers declare to have had a crash or a near crash due to use of mobile phone while driving. More than half of drivers admitted using their GPS while driving.
