Marieannette Otero is responsible for the overall management and coordination of the Alliance’s global programs, projects, and activities, ensuring their strategic alignment and effective delivery.  She also leads the Alliance’s work with the Regional Chapters working with our members to identify and develop regional advocacy strategies and opportunities, building strategic partnerships with key regional stakeholders, and strengthening and developing programs to support member needs.

Marieannette joined the alliance in January 2022, and has 20 years of experience working in non-profit program management and implementation at the international and national levels. She has spent the last 12 years working in the field of road safety with a particular focus on advocacy, providing technical assistance to governments, and program implementation. She has worked with organizations such as the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP), Safe Routes National Partnership, and the Association for Safe International Road Travel (ASIRT). Marieannette holds bachelor’s degrees in Spanish Language and Literature and Government and Politics from the University of Maryland and attended the University of Puerto Rico, School of Law.  She currently lives in the Washington, DC area (United States).
